Kearney, NE – Meadowlark Hills Golf Course played host to the final round of the two-day Kearney Junior Classic. The past two days marked the debut of the new two-day championship on the Nebraska Junior Golf Tour. Along with the 9-hole division, the Kearney Junior Classic is also an official Junior Golf Scoreboard Ranked Tournament nationally. All two-day events (18-Hole) on the Nebraska Junior Golf Tour are nationally ranked. Along with the Kearney Junior Classic, the Nebraska Junior Golf Tour also offers the two-day events in the Capital City Championship and the Central Nebraska Junior Amateur.
In the boys 12-13 division, Omaha’s Vijay Kumar held onto his lead after day 1 and finished with a two-day total of 169 (+27). In the girls 14-15 division, Cozad’s Lynzi Becker battled back from being down three strokes after day 1, and won the division after shooting a two-day total of 176 (+32). In the boys 14-15 division, Elkhorn’s Andrew Whittaker picked up the victory with a two-day total of 152 (+10). Then, in the girls 16+ division, North Platte’s Baylee Steele kept it rolling and took first place with a two-day total of 156 (+12). Lastly, in the boys 16+ division, Franklin’s Ryan Weiss defeated Cole Feddersen in two playoff holes and took first with a two-day total of 148 (+6).
