FJS Post Series Awards
LINCOLN (October 7th, 2024) – Presented by the UNL PGA Golf Management Program, Nebraska Junior Golf completed the three event 2024 Fall Junior Series (FJS) for high school boys. The FJS was wrapped up on October 6th at Centura Hills GC and the post-series awards recognizing the overall Champions as well as the All-Star Team and Captain have been awarded.
The team at the top of the overall series leaderboard was team “Shankapotomis” with 1150 points. They had to earn their series victory by winning the tie breaker against their main competitors, which was the team called “Stroke of Luck”. The tie was broken by the team who had the lower score in the final event. Team Shankapotomis edged Stroke of Luck by one shot, shooting a team score of 148 in the series ending event at Centura Hills. Team Shankapotomis won the first event of the series at Table Creek with a team score of 140 (-2) and Stroke of Luck was the team champion of the second event of the series at River Wilds shooting an impressive 139 (-5). The winning squad featured some very talented players, all out of Lincoln. The team members were Carter Honnens, Carson Kildow and Max Moss. The series runner up team was composed of Miles Elgert of Lincoln, Jaxson Hinze of Waco and Ben Kottmeyer of Lincoln. One of the highlights of the series was the impressive play of Miles Elgert. The Sophomore played very consistently in each event, never finishing outside of 5th place. He finished T5 at Table Creek with a 71 (E), 3rd place at River Wilds with a 71 (-1) and rounded out the series with a victory at Centura Hills with another 71 (-1). Miles’ efforts earned him the title of the overall FJS Individual Champion, making him the captain of the series all-star team. Another highlight was Jaxson Hinze shooting the series low round of 69 (-3) at River Wilds, giving him the individual victory by one stroke. The individual champion at Table Creek was Zack Erstad of Lincoln, winning a 4-way playoff making birdie on the first playoff hole. All 4 players shot 70 (-1) in regulation. Team “Bolts” were the team champions at the final event at Centura Hills. Their team members were Frankie Dawson, Leo Lamounier and Henry Stempson all of Lincoln.
The overall FJS All-Star Team was also announced. These are the top 5 finishers in the series individual points race. The team is captained by Lincoln’s Miles Elgert (1075 pts). Joining him is Omaha’s Christopher Whittle (740.89 pts), Lincoln’s Max Moss (683.75 pts), Lincoln’s Ben Kottmeyer (621.25 pts) and rounded out by Lincoln’s Carter Honnens (613.14 pts).
