The Fall Junior Series gives high school aged golfers the opportunity to build their golfing resume by competing as part of a team and also as an individual in a series of three 18-hole competitions during the fall.
Teams - Junior players compete in teams of three (3) players, counting their two lowest scores after completion of play for each event (similar to how high school events are conducted). In the events, juniors will play in groups made up of players from different teams. The top team receives a medal at each tournament. Typically, a team consists of the same 3 players each event, but in the case that someone can't play in an event, a team can be made up of any combination of the same 4 players during the series. Players are to come up with a creative team name for the series. In addition to the team race, representatives of teams competing in an event are also placed in the individual competition against all other participants. The top 10 individual scores at each event will receive recognition. ALL PLAYERS MUST BE A CURRENT NJG MEMBER AND HAVE A PLAYER PROFILE CREATED TO BE ABLE TO REGISTER FOR EVENTS.
Individuals - Players not representing teams may also compete as individuals in Fall Junior Series events. A limited number of spots will be held at each event for individual golfers. The top 15 individual scores at each tournament will receive recognition. In addition to individual registrants, team participants are also eligible for individual recognition.
Handicap Restriction- Players are required to have a USGA Handicap Index of 12.0 or lower to be eligible to compete in the Fall Junior Series Events.
Each event is limited to 92 golfers (23 teams of 3 and 23 individuals) and the entry fee for each competition is $65 per player. Events open for registration on August 20th. If there are any individuals on the waitlist at the deadline (7 days before the event) and the overall limit of 92 has not been met, individuals will be let into the event until the overall field limit is met.
A list of participants and pairings is sent to area college golf coaches prior to each tournament. Following the event the same is done with the results.
UNL CASNR SCHOLARSHIPS: As part of UNL PGA Golf Management's sponsorship of this series, UNL College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) will be awarding a $500 scholarship to the top 30 individual players on the series points list. This scholarship will only be applicable to students who enroll in a UNL CASNR degree program. Each event in the Fall Junior Series is awarded NGA Junior Point Standings points. In addition, separate Fall Junior Series point standings are established to track both the individual and team race. Post season recognition is given to the top five individual point finishers, also known as the FJS All-Star Team. The top overall team at the completion of the series is also recognized and presented with a special prize. The overall points race will be based on an individual or team's top three finishes. The Fall Junior Series points race is separate from the summer NJG Tour season long points race.
