Fremont, NE – Fremont Golf Club played host to the NJG TEAM GOLF North Division Playoff presented by Five Points Bank on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Through 9-hole team competitions, TEAM GOLF serves as an introduction to tournament play for junior golfers, age 7-13. Designed to serve the beginning golfer with minimum experience, TEAM GOLF’s format can be played by anyone regardless of skill. TEAM GOLF helps young golfers learn the game with a set of beginner friendly rules such as no hazards, stroke limits, and the ability to drop a ball out of a bunker. Along with these rules, TEAM GOLF is also played through a scramble format allowing the golfers to have fun competing together as a team.
After a morning full of great golf, the four teams winning their pool to advance to the afternoon were the Happy Hollow HEAT, Fremont Express, Pacific Springs Storm and the Happy Hollow Flames. When it was all said and done, the top two teams who will advance to the TEAM Golf Championship out of the North Division were the Happy Hollow HEAT and the Fremont Express. The HEAT were the overall champions scoring 45 points. The team from Happy Hollow is coached by PGA Professionals Ryan Vermeer and Carly Ulrich. The champions of this event were the Kelley trio of Tommy, Kate and Jack, Cali Wisdom, Jimmy Melton, Knox Pocras, and Janie Peterson. Finishing in second also advancing to the championship was the Fremont Express following closely behind by scoring 38 points. The 2019 TEAM GOLF Championship will be held on Friday, August 9th at The Country Club of Lincoln.
Special thanks to our season long presenting sponsor, Five Points Bank and to host PGA Professional, Nathan Kalin, PGA as well as the entire Fremont Golf Course staff for hosting such a great event.
